Vapor Barriers and Crawl Space Encapsulation - A Busy Week Under the House

We've had a full week under the house - and we mean that literally. Between vapor barrier installs and a full encapsulation, we've been heads-down in crawl spaces getting moisture under control. That's the kind of week we love.

Most homeowners never think about what's happening beneath their floors. Out of sight, out of mind. But that crawl space is directly connected to your air quality, your floor structure, and the long-term health of your home. Moisture that builds up down there doesn't stay down there - it moves up. Here's what we were working with on a couple of these jobs - older crawl spaces with exposed soil, brick and block piers, and zero moisture protection in place. That failing old liner you can see torn and bunched up around the piers? That's a crawl space that's been fighting moisture for years without proper help. Getting a clean, properly installed vapor barrier down changes everything for that space.

On the encapsulation side, the liner goes wall-to-wall and up the foundation walls, sealed tight. It's a more complete solution that turns the crawl space into a controlled environment - one that's far less welcoming to mold, wood rot, and pests.
