Some crawl spaces are tough. This one was tighter than most - we're talking 12 to 14 inches of clearance through the majority of it. That means our crew was on their stomachs, working around pipes, wiring, and supports the whole way through. Not every contractor is willing to do that kind of work. We are.

The goal here was a full vapor barrier installation using a 12 mil reinforced barrier. Why does the thickness matter? Thinner barriers tear easily, especially in tight crawl spaces with lots of obstacles. A 12 mil reinforced product holds up long-term against punctures, ground moisture, and the general wear that comes with having utility lines running through the space.

In Pensacola, crawl space moisture is a real problem. The humidity down here doesn't let up, and an unprotected crawl space turns into a breeding ground for mold, wood rot, and pest activity. A properly installed vapor barrier cuts off ground moisture before it ever has a chance to work its way up into your floor system and living space.

Getting this barrier laid out flat and continuous across a space this low requires patience and experience. There's no shortcut when you're navigating around support posts, plumbing lines, and low-hanging ductwork in a space where you can barely lift your head. But that's exactly the kind of work we do, and we do it right.

If your crawl space has never been addressed - or if you've got an old, failing barrier down there - it's worth getting eyes on it. Moisture problems under your home don't fix themselves, and the longer they sit, the more damage they do.
