What we found was a patchwork of loose concrete blocks, mismatched bricks stacked on top of each other, and debris scattered across the crawl space floor. Old cans, leaves, and other junk piled up under the joists. None of this is cosmetic. Debris holds moisture. Poor support columns shift over time. And when the support system under a home starts to fail, you feel it upstairs - soft spots in the floor, doors that won't close right, walls that start to crack.

We go into crawl spaces like this one specifically to catch these issues early. Loose block columns, improper shimming, debris buildup, inadequate support spacing - these are all things we document and address. Whether a home needs corrections, cleanup, or a full encapsulation to control moisture long-term, the assessment is always step one. You can't fix what you haven't fully seen.

If your home is on a crawl space and you don't know what's under it, that's reason enough to find out. Problems like what we found in Andalusia are common across the Gulf Coast - and most homeowners are genuinely surprised by what's down there.
